Privacy Policy for Sparepay
Effective date: 22 July 2026 Last updated: 22 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Sparepay (the “App”) handles information. Sparepay is a personal budgeting app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, published by amarasapps (“we”, “us”, or “our”).
We have designed Sparepay to be private by default. In short: your financial data stays on your device and in your own private iCloud account. We do not collect it, receive it, store it on our servers, or share it with anyone.
1. Who we are (Data Controller)
For the purposes of the UK GDPR and EU GDPR, the data controller for any limited processing described below is:
- Controller: amarasapps
- Contact: support@amarasapps.com
If you are in the UK or EEA, you have the rights described in Section 8.
2. Summary
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Do you collect my personal data? | No. We do not collect, receive, or have access to your data. |
| Where is my budgeting data stored? | On your device, and — if you enable it — in your own private iCloud account. |
| Do you use analytics or tracking? | No. There are no analytics, trackers, or advertising SDKs. |
| Do you share or sell my data? | No. We have nothing to share or sell. |
| Do the AI features send my data anywhere? | No. AI summaries are generated on-device using Apple Intelligence. |
| Does the app connect to your servers? | No. We operate no servers that receive your data. |
3. Information we collect
We do not collect any personal data.
All information you enter into Sparepay — such as months, pay periods, income, expenses, categories, templates, and notes — is created and stored locally on your device. This data is never transmitted to us, and we have no ability to access, view, or retrieve it.
We do not operate any server, database, or backend that receives information from the App.
4. Data stored on your device and in your iCloud
- On-device storage. Your budgeting data is stored on your device using Apple’s on-device data frameworks.
- iCloud sync (optional). If you are signed into iCloud and have iCloud enabled for Sparepay, your data syncs privately across your own Apple devices using Apple’s CloudKit service, within your private iCloud database. This data is associated with your Apple ID and governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy. We cannot access the contents of your private iCloud database.
- If you do not use iCloud, your data simply remains on the single device where you entered it.
5. Apple Intelligence (AI summaries)
Sparepay can generate written summaries of your spending using Apple Intelligence, Apple’s on-device AI system (the Foundation Models framework).
- These summaries are produced entirely on your device.
- No financial data is sent to us, to Apple’s servers for our benefit, or to any third-party AI service to create them.
- On devices where Apple Intelligence is unavailable, Sparepay displays a brief notice and instead generates a summary using a built-in, on-device format. This also sends no data off-device.
6. Notifications
Sparepay can send you local reminders (for example, to log spending or about an upcoming pay period). These are local notifications scheduled on your device. They are not push notifications, they do not involve any server, and they do not transmit any information off your device. You can enable or disable notifications at any time in your device’s Settings.
7. Third parties
- We do not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, or crash-reporting services.
- The only third party involved is Apple Inc., which provides the underlying operating system and the iCloud/CloudKit and Apple Intelligence features you choose to use. Your use of those features is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data, because we do not collect it.
8. Your rights
Because we do not collect or hold any of your personal data, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export, or delete on our side. You remain fully in control of your data at all times:
- Access & portability: all your data is on your device; you can export summaries from within the App.
- Deletion: you can delete individual entries in the App, or delete all data by removing the App. To remove synced data, disable iCloud for Sparepay or delete the App’s data via Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage on your device.
If you are in the UK or EEA and believe your data-protection rights have been infringed, you may contact us at support@amarasapps.com, and you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office).
9. Children’s privacy
Sparepay is a general-audience budgeting app and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children, because we do not collect data at all.
10. Data security
Because your data stays on your device and in your private iCloud account, its security is provided by Apple’s device and iCloud protections (such as device passcode/biometric locks and iCloud encryption). We recommend keeping your device and Apple ID secured with a passcode and two-factor authentication.
11. International users
Sparepay does not transfer your data to us in any country, because we do not receive your data. Any storage or sync happens within Apple’s infrastructure under your own Apple ID, subject to Apple’s terms.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — for example, if we add new features. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and post the new version at this URL. Significant changes will be reflected in the App’s release notes where appropriate.
