❓ Frequently asked questions

Is my financial data private?

Yes. Sparepay stores everything on your device and syncs it only through your own private iCloud account. We do not run any server that receives your data, and your information is never sold or shared. Nothing about your spending leaves your Apple devices except to sync privately between them.

How does iCloud sync work?

As long as you’re signed into iCloud and have it enabled for Sparepay, your budgets sync automatically and privately across your iPhone, iPad, and Mac. If you’re not signed into iCloud, the app still works fully — your data just stays on that one device.

What are the AI summaries, and where does my data go?

The AI summaries are generated entirely on your device using Apple Intelligence. Your financial data is never sent to any external server or third-party service to create them. On devices where Apple Intelligence isn’t available, Sparepay shows a short notice and falls back to a clear, non-AI summary format — still fully on-device.

Why can’t I use the AI summaries?

Apple Intelligence requires a supported device with the feature enabled (Settings → Apple Intelligence & Siri), and it may need a few minutes to download its models the first time. Until then, Sparepay automatically uses its built-in summary format instead.

How do the widgets work?

Add the Month Leftover widget to your Home Screen (or Lock Screen on iPhone) to see what you have left to spend at a glance. Touch and hold the Home Screen → tap + → search for Sparepay.

Does Sparepay cost anything / require an account?

No account or sign-in is needed — just open the app and start budgeting.

How do I delete my data?

Deleting the app removes its on-device data. To also remove synced data, you can turn off iCloud for Sparepay in your device settings, or delete the app’s data from iCloud in Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.
